Vanessa Curran Counselling

Counselling in West Oxfordshire & Online

Counselling for adults either online or in a peaceful, private setting in Faringdon.

Welcome. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

I’m a qualified counsellor who is committed to creating a safe and supportive space for my clients as they seek to explore and improve their emotional well-being.

In our sessions I foster a warm, non-judgemental environment, where together we can look into issues that may be causing you to feel stuck, confused, or unhappy.

Whether you're facing specific life challenges, seeking some resolution of past events, or looking for an inner peace that has eluded you, I’m here to support you every step of the way as you embark on your healing journey.

About me

I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Academy and am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

A fully qualified counsellor, I continue to seek out training that supports my professional growth. In recent years I’ve trained with the Open University both in online counselling and trauma-informed counselling; with NICABM in working with anxiety; with the Jung Platform in understanding depression; and with expert in her field, Zoe Lodrick, in understanding the impact of sexual violence and abuse.

I am a mum, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a colleague. I know that life can be hard. I too have sought help from counselling and credit it with giving me the courage to strive to live an open-hearted life, connected to the people around me, and at peace with my experiences and who I am.

Confidentiality & Ethics

Counselling should always offer a safe, non-judgemental space and you can trust that our conversations will be held and kept in confidence.

My clients can feel confident that I will always act in their best interests: I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework. I hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate.

How I work

My approach combines person-centred and psychodynamic practices, allowing us to tailor the sessions to your unique needs in the here and now, as well as to your past lived experience. By integrating insights from these different approaches, we can together uncover and understand your underlying patterns of behaviour, help you develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, and allow you to feel able to navigate your life with resilience.

I prefer to work face-to-face with my clients as I feel it allows us to build a deeper connection. That said, I know that life can take some juggling, so I do see some clients online or in a blend of online and face-to-face.

Sessions are typically long-term or open-ended, but I also offer short-term work if appropriate.

My clients are adults aged over 18 who come from all walks of life and who have a range of concerns or conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Depression or low mood
  • Anxiety or stress
  • Low confidence or self-esteem
  • Attachment issues, including from early years neglect or abuse
  • A fragile sense of self or identity – whether related to personality, sexuality or gender
  • Family, relationship or work problems
  • Grief, loss or bereavement
  • Trauma or post-traumatic stress
  • Living with negative feelings, including fear, anger, jealousy, envy or hatred
  • Life’s stages and changes such as mid-life, menopause, retirement or divorce/separation

Fees

My counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and take place at the same time every week. A session costs £50. Please speak to me about reduced rates if you can’t pay the full session price.

My location

Sessions take place either in person in my peaceful, private room at The Lotus Retreat in Faringdon, or online via Google Meet. I am within easy reach of Oxford, Swindon and West Oxfordshire.

Getting started

Before we start work together, we’ll schedule a 30-minute conversation – this can be online or on the phone. There is a £25 cost for this meeting. If we decide that we’re a good fit for each other, I’ll ask you to sign a contract agreeing the details of how we’ll work.

Get in touch

Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal and often instinctive process. If you’re wondering about working with me and have any questions, or want to arrange an initial conversation, please use this form. I’ll usually get back to you within two working days.
